West Ottawa musicians receive high rankings from Feb. 5 performance

West Ottawa received 30 first division ratings for their performance at the Michigan School Band & Orchestra Association District 10 Solo & Ensemble Festival on Feb. 5. an additional 16 second division ratings, for good performances, were also given to West Ottawa musicians.

Those who received first division ranknigs qualify for the MSBOA State Solo and Ensemble Festival on March 26 at West Ottawa High School.

Receiving the first division ratings were the following soloists: Molly Borgman, Jordan Curry, Anna Easa and Luke Smyk, violin; Holly Tracy, oboe; Karina Cooke, clarinet; Erica Driscoll, bass clarinet; Alyssa Shepard, alto saxophone; Jordan Vanderham, tenor saxophone; Ryan McCormack, trumpet; Jacob Hahn, euphonium; Diedre Lyons, marimba; April Bonkowski and Matt Smyk, snare drum; Tyler Bonkowski, percussion; and Luke Smyk, piano. Duets receiving the top ranking were Chelsea Theisen and Katie Putnam, bass; Maggie Mills and Lyndsy Miller and Bri Payne and Lyndsy Miller, flute; and Brian Paul and Josh Dykstra, percussion.

Jessica Carlson, Grade Stone and Eric Stone also received first division rating for their saxophone trio while quartets getting the top ranking were Maggie Mills, Emilia Boone, Bri Payne and Lyndsy Miller, flute; Jessica Carlson, Alyssa Shepherd, Reid Pinkham and Jordan Vanderham, saxophone; and Matt Harder, Josh Anair, Emily Ringquist and Matt Bush, horn.

the following also received the top rating: Brass chamber choir of Ryan McCormack, Evaristo Diamond, Miguel Solis, Josh Anair, Matt Harder, Daniel Spreitzer, Rees Fedewa, Jason Hamm, Kevin Perttula, Matt Smyk, Sarah Rasasak and Tyler Bonkowski.

Woodwind chamber choir of Maggie Mills, Bri Payne, Emilia Boone, Holly Tracy, Ellie Johnston-Dumerauf, Sarah Fontaine, Karina Cooke, Miranda Beverwyk, Kendra Ensley, Cindy Rodas, Erica Driscoll, Karleena Caudill, Josh Marsman, Lucy Merrill, Sadie Mena, Reid Pinkham, Alyssa Shepard, Clair Johnson, Jessica Carlson and Grace Stone.

the percussion ensemble of Tyler Bonkowski, Sarah Rasasah, Sean Horner, Brian Paul, Andy Hutchison, Holly Renberg, Lucas Driesenga and Matt Smyk.
