Valley Residents Hope to Win Big

The small chance of winning the lottery isn’t stopping people from giving it a shot.

On Friday, people standing in line at the Pure Gas Station in downtown Harrisonburg were all hoping to get lucky and win the big $242 million prize.

The cashier there says they sold more than 150 lottery tickets Thursday and Friday.

Felicia Plummer, who bought her tickets Friday, says the key is to be optimistic.

“I’m going to be a winner,” says Plummer. “I have three tickets, and all three of them are winners.”

The winning numbers will be announced Friday night, but if you’re busy ringing in the new Year, you can see them on the Mega Million Lottery or Virginia Lottery websites.
