Zeta blocker: HTC may have a 2.5GHz, quad-core smartphone

Update, 8:34 a.m. PT: Engadget has updated its post, saying that further reporting suggests this is “just simply a cool concept and not an actual device in the works.”

HTC may be working on a new smartphone that, by the look of things, could make many other handsets obsolete by comparison.

Engadget is reporting today that HTC has built a smartphone, codenamed Zeta, that boasts a host of compelling features–a 2.5GHz quad-core processor, 4.5-inch HD display, and 32GB of internal storage. In addition, Engadget’s source says, theAndroid 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) device will support Beats Audio, Bluetooth 4.0, and come with an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera.

Based on an image Engadget received of the smartphone, the device features a curved, unibody back with a band that appears to be brushed aluminum. In addition, Engadget says the device weighs about 5.15 ounces, according to the specs it’s seen.

The HTC Zeta is the second alleged device from the company to be leaked this month. last week, technology blog PocketNow claimed to have received information on the HTC Edge, a 1.5GHz quad-core-equipped device. like the Zeta, the Edge reportedly comes with Ice Cream Sandwich. However, the Edge will reportedly feature a slightly larger 4.7-inch display.

Before you get too excited, remember that HTC has not confirmed the existence of these smartphones. until it does, take these reports with the proverbial grain of salt.

HTC did not immediately respond to CNET’s request for comment.

Acer NeoTouch S200 hardware and software review – Smartphone Gurus

What’s the build quality like. Compared to F900 / M900 or even the iphone. Anyone who has one, let us know. Pocketnow.com didn’t give a good review on the build quality. Never trust Pocketnow’s reviews when it comes to build quality and material.

Pocketnow called the M900 cheap material and build and yet I find it more solid than my HTC Touch Pro, and the slider light and reliable.

Pocketnow called the battery cover of the M900 to be cheap plastic with metallic styling, and I find it to be a piece of real aluminum.

Pocketnow called SPB Benchmark’s Graphics Benchmarks “unreliable” because the program was “too old” to measure the graphics performance on “modern” phones such as the HTC Touch Pro, or the Sony Xperia X1. We know quite well that Pocketnow is still full-of-it since even the Omnia II blows any of the MSM72xx devices away in the SPB tests.

Seriously, take their reviews with a huge grain of salt.
