/// Smithsonian Brings Classic Arcade Games to Life (Video)

In one corner of the Smithsonian American Art Museum, a preteen boy was throwing balls at aliens, bringing Space Invaders to life. In another, families were posing with flowers, clouds and stars, and doing their best impressions of Mario from Super Mario Brothers, as a professional photographer snapped away. It was all part of last weekend’s kickoff for an exhibit celebrating the art of the videogame . the three-day GameFest also featured speakers, music performances and movie screenings. the GameFest part was just for the opening weekend, but “the Art of Video Games” exhibit itself runs through Sept. 30 in Washington, D.C. each generation of gaming gets its moment in the spotlight — from the early Atari, Coleco and Intellivision consoles, through Nintendo, Sega Genesis and Dreamcast, to today’s Xbox 360, Wii and PlayStation 3. the exhibit is interactive, allowing visitors to not only view the evolution of the graphics in videogames, but also to try their hand at some classics. Lines formed as kids and adults alike queued up to play Super Mario and Pac-Man on a giant screen. for more on the exhibit and the accompanying GameFest, check out our photo gallery:

Twisted Metal PS3 drops in USA today – SlashGear

It’s that time again, folks, time to take your love of destroying your auto-bound enemy to a whole new level of bright flashes of explosions and pain with Twisted Metal. in a 2012 release with the same name as the original murder-tastic car battle, this Twisted Metal is being sent out to the PlayStation 3 exclusively (at first, at least,) and will be available in all your favorite gaming stores right this minute (if you’re lucky) for $60 USD. Be sure you’re 17 years and older though, as this one’s going to get messy.

This version of the game is made to work in your home for multiplayer, sure, but where it really explodes is its online play where you’ll get to rock out one of your four teams that correlate with one of the classic characters from the series: Sweet Tooth (The Clowns), Dollface (The Dolls), Mr. Grimm (The Skulls) and the Preacher (The Holy Men). not only are you encouraged to play epic battles on the PlayStation Network, you’ve got several modes of play including the brand new terror known as Nuke Mode.

In Nuke Mode your goal is to take your opponent’s team leader hostage, sacrifice them to your missile launcher, and knock out a piece of your enemy’s giant metal statue. the metal statue your opponent has is being held high by a helicopter. how all of this makes any sense in the real world, we do not know – but it seems entertaining! This newest version of the game also contains a whole new set of vehicles including Death Warrant (aka a Ford Mustang), a Roadboat (one gigantic beast of a vehicle indeed), Vermin (for capturing your mice friends,) and the ever classic Sweet Tooth ice cream truck.

Again this game is out right now and you should pick it up as soon as possible – then watch out for us, because we’ll be crushing!

PS3 Games – Two Sides of the Same Coin

What’s up everyone? it is just the time for some fun and real frolic to dust off the tiredness and stress of your job. I am talking about PlayStation 3, the latest console from Sony entertaining both the kids as well as the adults equally. with hectic work schedules from 9 to 11, we definitely deserve the luxury of relaxation. you can never ever get anything much better than this gaming mania. it will simply be the world where we can be the stars with nothing and absolutely nothing to worry about.

Now, let me introduce you to our new friend Mr.PS3 Games. The most adorable character about our friend is that it doesn’t include any hand held game console or mobile phones which run a completely different version of the game under the same name. it is an updatable software and operating system of PS3 that seems to be identical to PSP. The graphic used is none other than 3D computer graphics API software.

Something that is definitely guaranteed is we can watch it blossom as time goes into a machine that has something for everyone. a fact that can’t be denied is Sony electronics’ dream of PS3 has become the entertainment hub of every house today.

As everything else this too does have its pros n cons. When it helps in brain development, increases alertness and gives us a great deal of relaxation, it does produce a lot many couch potatoes too. Limiting the co curricular activities and exercise to just movement of eyeballs and fingers leaving an imprint on the couch. But this isn’t a strong enough reason to deprive the opportunity for enjoyment. The success rate has gone to an extent where media has even launched play station official magazine. you can check them online also for some great and updated news on the console. The top names you should definitely remember are:

      1. Final fantasy XII walkthroughs.

      2. God of war III walkthroughs

      3. Dead rising 2 walkthrough.

      4. Red dead redemption walkthrough.

      5. Heavy rain walk through.

I would say my personal favorite is heavy rain walkthrough. try it and I assure, you will never regret it. so guys what are you waiting for? Go ahead and enter the world of PlayStation 3 games and realize what you have been missing till now. it will certainly be the world where you’ll mark your domain and leave an imprint of joy

Electronic Theatre Preview: A Game of Thrones

Focus Home Interactive recently confirmed the European release of A Game of Thrones, a new role-playing game (RPG) for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC based on the series by George R.R. Martin, which was recently adapted into a television (TV) series by HBO. In A Game of Thrones, players will enter the shoes as one of two playable characters, travelling through mythical locations from Westeros on their quest.

As was the case with the original novels, the stories of our two heroes are told in alternation with each character getting the main role in his chapter, until their paths first cross at the corner of a common quest. The details on how this event takes place are still kept under wraps at present, though it’s been suggested that fans of the novels or the TV series might well be able to have a good guess at the fated meeting.

Players must find their own unique fighting style, reaching a good balance between your strengths and weaknesses as you encounter epic battles. Rewards for your victories come quickly, but in addition you can buy or loot new equipment and weapons to fit your approach of the fights. as would be expected from an RPG videogame players will gain experience to improve their skills, or learn new ones. those which have been shown so far include the ability to slow the time down during battle and an enhancement of your charisma to allow for pursuing of in-game characters.

Utilising Unreal Engine 3, A Game of Thrones is being developed by Cyanide for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC, the team responsible for many underrated releases including the Blood Bowl titles and the intriguing upcoming Of Orcs and Men. Electronic Theatre will keep you updated with all the latest details on A Game of Thrones as it approaches it’s Q2 2012 release date.

The i in Christmas is not what it used to be… – Ab Originals found on the web

As Black Friday and the holiday season approaches, Apple appears to be the consumer electronics brand to beat. a recent Nielsen survey shows kids’ holiday gaming and electronics appetites are whet by a number of top-selling Apple devices – with the iPad leading the pack.

Consistent with U.S. kids’ 2010 wish lists, the Apple iPad is the most desired consumer electronic among kids ages 6-12 for holiday 2011. In fact, the iPad increases its stronghold, with nearly half (44%) of kids expressing interest in the product, up from 31percent in 2010. two other popular Apple devices – iPod Touch (30%) and iPhone (27%) – round out kids’ top three, with computers and other tablet brands each appealing to a quarter of younger consumers.

Many kids will also ask for gaming devices this year, with two products that offer unique gaming technologies – Nintendo 3DS (25%) and Kinect for Xbox 360 (23%) – leading the way. Given the 3DS’ spring 2011 release date and the surge in Kinect interest versus last year (up from 14%), parents can expect both devices to be frequently requested this holiday season. Beyond these, older Nintendo DS models continue to resonate with young gamers (22%), while the PlayStation 3 (17%) and Xbox 360 (16%) edge out the Nintendo Wii (11%) as the most desired gaming consoles.

Among consumers ages 13 and older, appeal for the iPad (24%) has also broadened relative to last year (18%), and exceeds that of computers (18%), 2010’s top item. Further, it appears the iPad has successfully paved the way for other tablet offerings, as a notable 17 percent of adults/teens also express interest in non-Apple tablets.

E-Readers (18%) also exhibit heightened appeal among teens and adults compared to last year (15%), while gaming devices on the whole are somewhat less likely to be of interest to the 13+ crowd. the exception is Kinect for Xbox 360, which appeals to 12 percent of those ages 13+, compared to eight percent in 2010; though, notably, last year’s data was collected prior to the product’s well-supported, large-scale launch on November 4, 2010.

With so many products to choose from across both existing and emerging technologies, electronics are well-positioned to find their way onto shoppers’ lists again this season – and parents will clearly have some tough decisions to make as they weigh kids’ wants against their holiday budgets.[PN1]

More insights on gamers, console dynamics, and allocations of time and money within gaming and the broader entertainment category will be featured in the third annual Nielsen 360° Gaming Report: U.S. Market, available in January. Additionally, an overview of key findings from the 2010 version of the report can now be downloaded here[PN2].

Survey conducted among a general population sample of n=3,000 in the United States, October 2011.
