Most Anticipated 2011 Releases For the Wii

Even with the Xbox, and Sony hot on the heels of Nintendo and inspite of the gains the competition is making, the Nintendo Wii remains the top selling gaming console system. Combined with the Nintendo DS, DSi, DSi XL and the upcoming 3DS system – Nintendo has maintained a lead in the console wars. 2010 will be an incredible season for new releases – but 2011 will bring even more hot titles

If you are a fan of the LEGO series of games for the Nintendo Wii, then 2011 will bring more surprises for you with the release of LEGO Star Wars III – the Clone Wars. the LEGO games have been a huge hit for the Wii and Travellers tales – the company that has designed them. the latest games to be released has drawn upon the success of Harry Potter and is entitled Lego Harry Potter – Years 1-4.

If they can pull off what they’ve managed for every LEGO game to date, LEGO Star Wars III – the Clone Wars will bring yet another hit and will entertain gamers.

The other smash hit just waiting for gamers is the Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. the Zelda series of games goes back to the early days of the Nintendo. Zelda has a loyal following of gamers that have stayed with the game over the years, and years it has been 23-years to be exact.

Link – the main character in the Legend of Zelda has been around for 23 years in various incarnations. first released in the 80′s the game has evolved for new players. Richer characters, deeper game play and story lines have made the Zelda series of games a treasure for old and new players.

What will the Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword introduce? how about full-motion control using the Wii MotionPlus accessory which will synchronize the players movements with the characters actions providing more intuitive play control. Imagine, swing to the right and your character swings to the right – swing left and the character moves in unison to you.

Precision play isn’t limited to the good guys in the game, but applies equally to the villians as well. Players will have to think about their strategy when battling opponents who will now be able to defend against attacks.

Nintendo has done things right for years and there is no doubt that the Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword will be another hit for the gaming company that can’t seem to do any wrong.

    Playstation 3 and Xbox 360

    When it comes to the console war, we think of fanboys and girls going at it. we think negatively of each console and always brag to our friends how much better our consoles are than next person. although, things are getting better and people are becoming more and more diverse in terms of owning video game consoles by owning multiple consoles rather then just one single console. Nintendo Wii gets left out of the category most of the time, and has its own fan base (families, non-gamers, etc) which strays away from the hardcore gamer.

    Playstation 3 and Xbox 360, have been pushing each other for more than 4 years now. with the technology becoming more advance and powerful, the video game industry is making lots of money from demanding consumers.video games are coming to the point where its topping most major movies. with that said, everyone wants a piece of the pie and major movies seem to always rush a game to release with their console. which most of the time ends up becoming a flop.

    The hardcore gamer is a growing community which is becoming more and more known as more and more people begin to play games. both Sony and Microsoft push each other to the limits to have the better game of the season. Halo vs Uncharted or Metal Gear vs Gears of War. these are all games that push each other to the graphical limits and who knows where it will go from there. The competition is growing fierce – meaning this is the best time to be a gamer.

      WRONG. wrong!

      Excuse me but the PSEye on for the PS2 was (IMO) the original pioneer in motion controller gaming, I mean, Natal is basically just like the next gen version of it.

      OK. the Nintendo Wii forced Microsoft and Sony to play ball in the motion controlled gaming field. I have personally owned a Wii; returned the console and kept with my Xbox 360 and PS3. Microsoft has taken a giant step forward with Kinect; I have personally played with the system and think that is being under-hyped. I will be buying one for my kids and keepi……oops. Can’t wait for November.

      How many pieces of old, badly-designed, unsupported pieces of Microslop hardware do I already own? will this one fare any better? sure doesn’t sound like it, especially from a simple fps perspective.

      I’ll wait for Apple to release their new iPads that this supposedly will outsell– (Ya, RIGHT!).

      Microsoft is a feeble-minded, over-grown Ape. Surprised their employees have opposing thumbs.

      Games Console or PC? 5 Reasons Why PC Gaming is the Best

      Today’s video games market is dominated by Microsoft, Nintendo and Sony with brands like PlayStation and Xbox representing combined sales of hundreds of millions of machines. all three companies use their huge marketing budgets to constantly keep their games consoles firmly in the minds of potential buyers, including sports sponsorships and co-marketing top games from publishers like Electronic Arts on TV.

      Walking into a games store further proves how much these three companies dominate the industry, with more shelf space dedicated to their platforms than any other. But there is an alternative! the PC has been a major platform for games since long before the names PlayStation and Xbox became known and continues to be a great alternative.

      There are five main reasons to choose PC gaming instead of home consoles like the Microsoft Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii or Sony PS3.

      5. PC Gaming can be low Cost

      A common misconception is that buying a PC capable of playing games is expensive. although it’s certainly possible to spend several thousand pounds or dollars on the latest hardware, a decent set-up capable of playing the latest games can be bought for a lot less. Complete desktop PC systems with monitors and speakers can be purchased for well under £1,000/S1,000 and more money can be saved if a monitor isn’t needed.

      Or maybe a new PC doesn’t even need to be bought. to enjoy PC gaming Many people with an existing desktop PC may not even realise how easy it can be to upgrade their computer’s memory or even its processor, both of which cost less than buying a new machine. Even easier is upgrading the new graphics card, which can have a huge impact for relatively little money.

      Consider also that PC games are usually cheaper than console games, sometimes by as much as £10/$10 for the latest multi-platform titles.

      4. a PC can be Upgraded

      When Microsoft, Nintendo and Sony launch a new games console, fans have no choice but to buy it if they want to play the games designed for the new hardware. And there’s no guarantee that their existing games will run on it as well, meaning either that they can’t be played any more or the old console has to be kept, too.

      A PC is different because, with a desktop PC in particular, the hardware can be upgraded bit-by-bit as games demand more technology, such as faster processors, more memory or a new graphics card. This means a PC stays usable for longer.

      3. Digital Distribution

      Although both the PS3 and Xbox 360 allow users to download some full-price games, neither can compete with the PC for digital distribution. Online services such as Direct2Drive and Steam provide easy access for purchasing and downloading almost any PC game. there are also specialist services, such as good old Games which has a library of low-cost classic titles which can be played on almost any PC bought over the past few years.

      And because a PC usually has a much harder drive than a games console, many downloaded games can be stored at once.

      There are also emerging technologies like the OnLive gaming on-demand platform where games are streamed to the PC.

      2. Games look better on a PC

      When comparing which platform has the best looking games, the PC can lay claim to being the best because of higher screen resolutions and more detailed graphics.

      The Nintendo Wii only has a maximum resolution of 480p, which is far below HD and equal to just 720 x 480 pixels, a resolution that most PCs have been able to beat for over a decade. the Xbox 360 and PS3 (the two most advanced home consoles available today) can output 1080p HD but most games run only in 720P, equal to 1280 x 720 pixels, with some not even achieving that. there are few games on either console that run in the 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution of 1080p, with Gran Turismo 5 on the PS3 being a notable exception.

      Even a fairly low-cost PC with a cheap graphics card can usually manage to equal or slightly exceed 1280 x 720. But for those wanting the best, it’s possible with the right PC hardware (including processor, graphics card and monitor) to play games in the astonishing resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. until TVs with better than HD quality are available (which won’t be for many years) games consoles will lag far behind the PC.

      Also, because PC graphics card usually have more dedicated memory than a console, PC games often have more detailed graphics. a Eurogamer face-off between all three versions of Batman: Arkham Asylum in September 2009 clearly shows the advantages of the PC version of the game compared to the Xbox 360 and PS3.

      The PC can also play 3D games with the correct hardware, such as NVIDIA 3D Vision, and unlike the PS3 which can play only a few 3D games, over 400 PC games are already supported.

      1. the PC Games Library

      The PC has the largest selection of games of any of the platforms, partly because so many new games are released for it and partly because a huge number of older games, including those more than a decade old, can still be played on it. This is the main reason why PC gaming is the best.

      Major games franchises like Call of Duty, Fallout, FIFA, Harry Potter, Mass Effect, need for Speed and Resident Evil are all present on the PC and it also has more than its share of top exclusive games, such as Civilization 5, Starcraft 2 and Metro 2033.

      The PC is also best for online games, especially MMORPGs. World of Warcraft can’t be played on any console and nor can Eve Online, Guild Wars and many, many more.

      The Ultimate Games Machine

      The PC can be low-cost, easily upgraded, has access to thousands of games which can be downloaded and a huge library of games, many of which look superior to those on the Xbox 360 and PS3. the PC is the ultimate games machine and, despite fears that consoles will end its position as a games machine, continues to go from strength to strength.
