Who should I start as my 3rd receiver in week 15? Braylon Edwards v ATL, Davone Bess @ TEN or Chambers v CLE?

This is my semi-finals game of the playoffs and I am going up against Kurt Warner, Wes Welker, Adrian Peterson and Chris Johnson to name a few and will need all the points I can get. thanks in advance for the advice.

Ugh, good luck against that man. Yikes!

Anyway, I would go with Davone Bess. he has the most potential for a breakout game out of these three almost by default. Dwwayne Bowe will be back which will affect Chambers' production and Edwards has been useless all season.

Good luck,

First off, you may be a dead duck already going against C. Johnson.

That being said, definitely go with Chambers. Bowe will draw coverage and that will leave Chambers open. take it from a Jets fan, Edwards still has the drops.

Honestly I would go with Edwards. Bowe is back for KC and he will take catches away from Chambers.

Rex Ryan: 'Don't feel sorry for us. We have everything we need on …

Updated: 8:10 p.m.

CORTLAND — The Darrelle Revis holdout saga turned bizarre today with both sides offering conflicting versions of Woody Johnson’s potential involvement in a recent meeting to discuss a resolution to the contractual impasse.

Minutes after Johnson told ESPN radio that Revis’ agents “rebuffed” the Jets offer to bring the owner to a meeting at the Roscoe Diner in Roscoe , N.Y. , last Friday, the other side fired back.

Neil Schwartz and Jonathan Feinsod, who represent the All-Pro cornerback, refuted Johnson’s story that they turned down a meeting.

“It’s a blatant lie,” Schwartz told the Daily News on Day 10 of Revis’ holdout. “Whoever said that is a blatant liar. I will meet with Woody any time, any place, anywhere. it will be my pleasure. Why wouldn’t I want Woody Johnson at the meeting?”

A few minutes after Revis’ agents disputed Johnson’s take, general manager Mike Tannenbaum told the Daily News that he, did, in fact, offer to have Johnson at the meeting, but Schwartz declined because the meeting was technical in nature.

Schwartz maintained that “the Jets have never given us a proposal with one dollar in signing bonus or one dollar in fully guaranteed money.” Tannenbaum has stated that the Jets are flexible with signing bonus and guaranteed money.

Someone isn’t telling the truth.

Despite the stalemate, Tannenbaum told the News that Revis isn’t going anywhere.

“We’re not trading him,” the general manager said.

Several hours after Diner Gate, Rex Ryan said that he believes his defense can thrive without Revis, who forfeited one year towards his free agency by not showing up today. (Revis’ camp has said all along that that deadline isn’t important to them).

“I’ve been running defenses a long time in this league,” Ryan said after the morning practice. “I’ve had to overcome a lot of great players not being in there…. We’ll find a way to get it done. I can’t do much, but I know one thing, we can call a defense. We’ll take what we have – we have a great collection of individual talent – but these guys play great as a team… That’s what we’ll do. obviously Revis is a tremendous player.”

Ryan admitted that he’ll “alter things” without Revis like rolling coverages based on matchups. but he remained adamant that the Jets still have the pieces to excel without the cornerstone of the defense.

“Don’t feel sorry for us,” Ryan said. “We have everything we need here on defense. The addition of (Antonio) Cromartie was enormous for this football team. And the fact that we drafted Kyle Wilson, who’s an outstanding player. That helps us a great deal.”

Ryan, of course, has history on his side. his Ravens’ defenses managed to stay among the elite groups when stars like Ray Lewis and Ed Reed were injured in the past. to that end, Ryan reiterated his belief that the Jets can win without Revis, who is in his 10th day of his holdout.

“Right now, I’m just going to focus on the people that are here,” Ryan said. “My mindset has to be on these guys that are here right now. those are the guys that are going to play. if Darrelle shows up., that’ll be awesome.”

“But it’s about the unit and we sell that from the day we walk out here,” the coach added. “It’s about the unit. … We’re not afraid of anybody.”

Ryan admitted that he “thought (a deal) would get done before (Revis) got to camp,” but maintained his focus is on the players that showed up. it doesn’t appear as if the coach will call Revis anytime soon, either.

“I don’t know what I’d tell him,” Ryan said. “I don’t know if he’d take my call. he hires people to negotiate. we have guys that obviously do that for us. we could say hello to each other, I guess.”

Ryan said that first-round Kyle Wilson will start opposite Cromartie in the first preseason game Monday night against the Giants.

Ryan said that Matt Slauson “without a doubt” has the edge over rookie Vlad Ducasse for the starting left guar spot. Slauson will start the first preseason game, Ryan said.

Veteran QB Mark Brunell “has a lock on the No. 2 spot,” Ryan said.

Lowery had “a bad day,”
Ryan said after the morning practice…

TE Jeff Cumberland (concussion)
is expected to practice in the afternoon after missing the morning session…

LB Brashton Satele (ankle) didn’t practice in the morning… Marlon Davis didn’t practice

Thoughts on our Wildcat Formation heading into the season? – Jets …

This is just one small aspect of our Offense, that Jet fans really haven’t talked about all that much this offseason.

Last year we seen Brad Smith come on strong for the Jets heading into the playoffs out of the Wildcat Formation.

Brad Smith showed us all what he could do out of the Wildcat Formation against the Bengals during week 17; 4 Rushing Attempts, 92 yards, 1 TD.

Against the Colts? We finially seen Brad Smith pass the Football out of the Wildcat Formation; Connecting with Jerricho Cotchery for 45 yards.

I would hate to see the Jets run the formation as much as the Dolphins, but I would love to see this Formation a good 3-4 or maybe even 5 times per game. the Jets actually have the types of players in place, that can cause plenty of confusion for opposing D’s.

Brad Smith can be our Ronnie Brown type of X-Factor under Center. the key is: Brad Smith can actually hit the open man. Brad Smith was actually one of the most productive rushing QB’s of all time during his college years.

Shonn Greene can become our Ricky Williams type of Power back.

We also have two backs in L.T and Joe McKnight who can catch out of the Backfield. L.T also has experience with this formation.

Brad Smith under center, Shonn Greene on one side, with L.T in motion before the snap of the ball? could be exciting.

Jets' Westhoff Leads Extreme Makeover of Special Teams – Jets …

Scanned but didn’t see this posted. Apologies if I missed it.

Jets’ Westhoff Leads Extreme Makeover of Special Teams

By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

Published: may 28, 2010

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) —Mike Westhoff was in midseason form, growling at his at his players and using some choice words to stress his point.

it is only may, but Westhoff, the Jets’ special-teams coordinator, needs to be intense. he is rebuilding a unit that lost several key members from last season, including the kicker and long snapper.

“There are some big, big challenges,” Westhoff said. “We all have challenges, but I probably have the biggest. yet I have no lack of confidence thinking that I can’t do it. it can be frustrating, but I think I see the whole picture.”

that being that the N.F.L. is a business, and teams lose significant players every season because of financial decisions or changes in philosophy. Roster turnover is just part of it, something Westhoff has experienced quite a bit in nearly 30 years coaching in the league.

“I’m used to it,” Westhoff said. “It’s part of the system. we probably have a smaller pool from which to draw because of some of the moves we’ve made. and that’s O.K. I think for the most part, most of the guys, I feel pretty good about.”

For Coach Rex Ryan, having Westhoff means he does not need to worry about special teams no matter what the roster looks like.

“There’s no better guy in the league to have than Westy,” Ryan said. “It’s great as a head coach when you can lay your head on that pillow knowing you’re going to be able to protect the punter, knowing you’re going to be able to cover kicks.”

Adversity is nothing new for the 62-year-old Westhoff, who has battled back from cancer in his left leg and several subsequent operations.

He is in his 10th season with the Jets and his 28th in the N.F.L., and he has long been regarded as one of the league’s special-teams gurus.

“He’s pretty straightforward and holds nothing back or sugarcoats anything,” linebacker Lance Laury said.

Westhoff said the Jets’ kick coverage unit, which ranked fifth last season, could have been no. 1 if not for two 100-yard returns by Miami’s Ted Ginn Jr.

“It’s only two plays,” he said, “but they still bother me.”

The biggest question Westhoff faces could be whether Nick Folk will be able to replace place-kicker Jay Feely, who went to Arizona after not being re-signed by the Jets.

Folk was a Pro Bowl pick as a Dallas Cowboys rookie in 2007, but struggled through last season after he had a torn labrum in his right hip repaired in the off-season.

“Nick has been a guy who we’ve made a couple of adjustments, not with his technique, but his alignment,” Westhoff said. “I feel very good about that. He’s coming off not a great year, but we’ll see. so far, he’s done O.K.”

There is also the issue of long snapper after the veteran James Dearth was not re-signed. Dearth was consistently good in his nine seasons with the Jets, but the team opted to go younger at that spot and signed Tanner Purdum.

“He’s a very good snapper,” Westhoff said of Purdum. “He can snap. now, will he hold up under the pressure and is he strong enough? We’re going to find all those things out. He’s got some basics. We’re going to put him in that position and let him compete for it.”

one mostly overlooked move during the off-season was the Jets’ allowing Wallace Wright to sign with Carolina as a free agent. Wright was a spot player on offense as a wide receiver, but he played one of the most important roles on special teams as the flyer or gunner. Westhoff is looking at using the speedy wide receiver David Clowney as Wright’s replacement.

“I know I can do it,” Clowney said. “That’s not a question. I come from a special-teams college at Virginia Tech. I started at flyer for my last two years of college. It’s something I’m not new to.”

it could mean the difference between being cut or remaining on the roster. with Jerricho Cotchery, Braylon Edwards, Santonio Holmes and Brad Smith ahead of him on the depth chart at receiver, Clowney knows he needs to show he can be versatile.

“I’m giving him every opportunity,” Westhoff said.

Westhoff said punter Steve Weatherford was kicking the ball the best he had seen. he was also excited about the prospect of having Smith returning kicks on a regular basis after averaging 30.1 yards on 10 returns last season.

The first-round pick Kyle Wilson is also expected to have a large role on special teams, as are Laury, Eric Smith, James Ihedigbo, Dwight Lowery and Marquice Cole. The speedy cornerback Antonio Cromartie also may be used by Westhoff.

“I’ve got my work cut out for me,” Westhoff said. “But I think we have a chance with the guys we’ve got.”
