Yahoo! Android Smartphone to Debut in Japan

Hardly a brand exists in the market today which is not keen on getting a piece of Android’s ever expanding market, other than Microsoft and Apple ofcourse. And what could be termed as a relatively unexpected move, if not quite a shocking one, now Google’s arch rival in the search market Yahoo is also coming up with its own smartphone running on the Android platform.according to reports, Yahoo is introducing this new Android smartphone in collaboration with Sharp, and that it will be targeted primarily on the Yahoo!-loving Japanese market.Still known as the Yahoo! Phone, the new device comes with a pretty impressive 4 inch qHD touchscreen with 960 x 540 pixels, a powerful 1 GHz processor, WiFi and 3G connectivity, 8 megapixel camera with autofocus, Bluetooth 3.0, built-in GPS and other standard features.And, when it comes to the pre-loaded software and apps, the device is powered by the Android 2.3 Gingerbread, and comes with a variety of apps, most of them being dedicated Yahoo! Services, as one could guess.Yahoo! is also expected to come up with a deal with SoftBank, one of the leading carriers in Japan in order to promote the device, which on the other hand launched a new Kitty branded smartphone just a few days back.
