How to Create a News Blog – Here is How You Do it

One of the very best ways to get started blogging today, especially if you have aspirations of making some money for your efforts, is simply creating a news blog that covers, celebrates and aggregates information related to a topic of your choosing. Of course it’s always a good idea to make sure you aren’t the only one interested in news about your niche.but, with the understanding that you’ve already got this part figured out, let’s take a closer look at how you’ll do it

First, I recommend you install and use WordPress as your blogging platform. It’s free, open source and is a simply phenomenal tool for news types of sites due to all of the plug ins and enhancements that can be utilized. you next need to install a good news oriented template, again, these are easy to find online, there are plenty of free ones to choose from, I personally use premium (professionally designed) templates for my own news sites, but you don’t have to if on a budget.

Then you simply can use a whole host of free tools to collect, aggregate and parse the information that is of interest to your readers. If yours is a new York City news site, for example, you would plug in some RSS feeds from around the web on NYC, add some other popular similar sites to your free bloglines (or any RSS reader) and watch for news that you can excerpt and scoop on your site. you can use other free WordPress plug ins to republish information from other people’s NYC sites on your own, in short excerpts, with links back to the original source so they are credited with the content and get a valuable back link as well. you can use tools like clipmarks, flock and syndicated video to do the same.and of course, you’ll want to add lots of your very OWN unique, original content so that you build a constant and refreshing audience base hungry for your own unique perspective.

News sites are VERY easy to do these days.and very valuable as well. Remember, once you establish a site like this, you can always sell it a year or two down the road and pocket some quick and easy cash – which is why I recommend you do MORE than one:-)

Red Bulls Rumors: New York Interested In Venezuelan Goalkeeper Renny Vega?

By Pat Johnston – Newsdesk contributor

Venezuelan goalkeeper Renny Vega said New York has called him.

Jan 8, 2012 – The New York Red Bulls are in the market for a goalkeeper. Frank Rost is currently the only keeper on the Red Bulls’ roster. The 38-year-old’s status for the upcoming season has not been finalized.

One option could be Venezuelan national team player of 2011: goalkeeper Renny Vega (via Empire of Soccer). Vega told the Venezuelan outlet El Nacional that he had been contacted by the Red Bulls and that he had recently spent time in New York on vacation.

They called again. that door is not closed. I wish I had that last experience abroad before retiring, I do not deny it. it is a very personal interest. (via El Nacional)

Vega said he has no problem staying with his club team, Caracas, if nothing comes of the calls from the Red Bulls.

Vegas has made 62 appearances with the Venezuelan national team and made a good showing during the 2011 Copa America, especially against Brazil, holding them scoreless.

Chris Paul Trade Rumors: Latest News and Twitter Buzz on CP3 Trade Talks

New Orleans Hornets point guard Chris Paul has been linked with trades to both the Los Angeles Lakers and Clippers, but the league-owned Hornets have stood firm on their asking price.

So, despite rampant speculation, Paul remains in new Orleans.

One thing NBA fans have learned throughout the entire process is to expect the unexpected. Every time it seems like a deal is dead, it rekindles only to be shot down again. Expect more of the same throughout Tuesday unless one team decides to step up big.

Keep checking back to this page for all the latest news and Twitter buzz about the superstar’s potential landing spots and, more importantly, what commissioner David Stern has to say about any trades.

      Tuesday, Dec. 13 at 10:15 a.m. ET

David Aldridge of TNT says that the Clippers have walked away from negotiations, at least for the time being. his report backs up the earlier one from Adrian Wojnarowski about the Clippers not willing to reach the league’s price.

The blog Aldridge references discusses the sticking points which are holding back a deal, including Eric Gordon and Minnesota‘s first-round pick. he also says that talks could start again at any time, but are off for now.

      Tuesday, Dec. 13 at 7:40 a.m. ET

Not long after there seemed to be a light at the end of the tunnel for Paul, talks were called off again according to Adrian Wojnarowski. Just like all other previous wheeling and dealing between the two sides, the Clippers weren’t willing to keep meeting the league’s demand.

It’s important to note that Wojnarowski stops short of saying the deal is completely off, which reports earlier on Monday seemed to indicate. However, unless the price tag is reduced to a more reasonable level, a deal is going to be hard to come by.

      Tuesday, Dec. 13 at 7:30 a.m. ET

Late Monday night into early Tuesday morning it appeared talks to make Paul a Clipper were heating up again. ESPN.com’s Marc Stein reported that discussions were ongoing between the two teams even though the deal was previously called dead.

After a seemingly imminent trade routing Paul to the Clippers collapsed earlier Monday, sources told ESPN.com that the league officials negotiating on the Hornets’ behalf had aggressively re-engaged the Clippers in talks in hopes of completing a deal as soon as Tuesday.

It’s a crazy situation which has left many basketball diehards, including Bill Simmons, to scratch their heads in amazement. the league seemingly won’t back down on its hefty asking price, but are lacking leverage because Paul can become a free agent at season’s end.

Bloggers Breaking an Increasing Number of News Stories

Today you see the beginning of a new era: the era of the news blogger. in the beginning, blogging was all about chronicling your life and your opinion. People would read your blog to see into your personal life. It was like reading someone’s personal diary. Today, blogging has evolved into a news business for many.

People can make money from running a blog. So it is only natural that people extend blogging into reporting and breaking news from their perspective. Bloggers have started doing this to drive more people to their blog. with more people reading a blog, the higher the advertising revenue.

Bloggers do not generally go through the usual fact-checking process that traditional news outlets do. some bloggers listen to and rewrite the rumor mill just to generate new content. It is those bloggers who produce stories rather than reports that often gain the most readers. they claim to report something when in reality is often nothing more than well-written speculation.

One advantage that bloggers have over news sites is that they do not have to abide by an organization’s standards and political views. The can have full poetic license with the words they write. As a journalist you aspire to bringing the nation to their knees for a big promotion with. For a blogger, the returns are more direct. many bloggers benefit directly from increased traffic in the form of advertising revenue. Exposing the ugly truth often becomes the motive for many bloggers without regard to the long-term consequences.

News sites put more care into reporting trending news. It has always been and will continue to be in their long-term interests to do so. At the middle of any news story is the integrity of the facts and writing. Any reporter who has compromised these will have a much more difficult time writing compelling, believable news moving forward with the same of different organization.

Blogs are a great thing. they allow people to share their views with others around the world, creating an ever-growing source of information that you can sometimes trust. But be sure to take your individual blog reads with a grain of salt. Nobody has come up with a solution that holds bloggers the more stringent set of standards that the news sites have been held to. Given how fast technology evolves and often catches us by surprise, perhaps that will be the next big thing.

Pal: Blake Shelton Is “Not a Homophobe” Despite Tweet Scandal – Celebrity News – UsMagazine.com

Blake Shelton shocked fans on Wednesday night with a violent, seemingly anti-gay Tweet.

Referencing Twain’s romantic hit “Any Man of mine,” the country singer and coach on the Voice tweeted: “Re-writing my fav Shania Twain song.. any man that tries Touching my behind He’s gonna be a beaten, bleedin’, heaving kind of guy…”

(Twain’s original lyrics are “Any man of mine better walk the line – Better show me a teasin’ squeezin’ pleasin’ kinda time.”)

Demanding that Shelton, 34, apologize, GLAAD wrote in a Thursday blog post: ”This is one of the judges on what’s so far been one of the most gay-friendly reality shows on television. for him to make a joke to his 300-thousand-plus followers about leaving a gay man ‘beaten, bleeding and heaving’ is completely unacceptable.”

“Blake Shelton needs to recognize that violence against the LGBT community is not a laughing matter, and he needs to apologize to his fans, and to fans of the Voice, for his comments,” GLAAD’s post continues.

Soon thereafter, Shelton responded to the criticism. “Hey y’all allow me to seriously apologize for the misunderstanding with the whole re-write on the Shania song last night,” he Tweeted Thursday morning. “It honestly wasn’t even meant that way… I now know that their are people out there waiting to jump at everything I say on here or anywhere.”

He added: “But when it comes to gay/lesbian rights or just feelings… I love everybody. So go look for a real villain and leave me out of it!!!”

Indeed, a source close to the star tells Us Weekly: “Blake is so not a homophobe. he really meant that from the perspective on Shania – it was just meant to be a jibe about someone grabbing her *ss. he feels awful.” Shelton Tweeted the controversial statement after watching Twain’s appearance on the Oprah show where she opened up about her now ex-husband cheating on her with her best friend.

Adds the insider: “He’s the nicest, sweetest and most down-to-earth guy. He’s extremely gay friendly. the man loves the Golden Girls!”
