LaCie LaPlug converts USB drive into a network storage device
@George… Forget about cutting the wire with.la cie or la plug, I thought since the past external drive I bought from la cie was o.k. that this would make a good NASA server, instead this thing is a disaster.
I am an Electronic Engineer I mention this to point out that the design simply is lacking proper planning. what do I mean to start $99.00 which is what this costs after shipping is too much to pay for something that does not work.
Does not boot correctly, does not have ability to deliver as advertised only has one user name & password, does not turn off with power switch must be unplugged… Maybe that is where they came up with the name?
I bought one of these La Plugs from la cie since I bought an external drive from them some years , this thing does not boot up half the time, does not recognize its own harddrives, does not update to its own firmware, does not have more than one user name and password, does not turn off with the button must be unplugged.
This is only the beginning, the shipping on this thing is $15.00 I sent it back to them over a week ago they 1st said refund in days now 3-4wks~!
This is how la cie thinks about customers, 1st they sell a half baked product then when returned they lie about refund all they have to do is a simple key in refund instead they want to have me wait a month while they’re junk has already been returned to sell to the next unfortunate yet good intentioned customer so that new/old customer has to go thru the same thing….
Do not buy this send $20.00 more for Extremer nas brand or any other as this is just garbage.

Madonna walked off with the Golden Globe for best original song on Sunday night, but she wasn’t exactly honored by Elton John or his husband. Before the show, John belittled Madonna’s chances ofwinning for her song Masterpiece, from her directorial effort W.E., sniping to a red-carpet reporter: “Madonna doesn’t have a (bleeping) chance ofwinning.” How wrong he was. Sir Elton — who was nominated for hello Hello, a song from the animated movie Gnomeo & Juliet — was caught on camera grimacing when her name was called. Hishusband, David Furnish, immediately took to Facebook to pour fuel on the fire. “Madonna.Best song???? F— off!!!” he posted. “Madonna winning best original song truly shows how theseawards have nothing to do with merit. Her acceptance speech was embarrassing in its narcissism.”Backstage, Madonna commented: “I hope he (John) speaks to me for the next couple of years. He’sbeen known to get mad at me, so I don’t know. He’s brilliant, and I adore him, so he’ll win anotheraward. I don’t feel bad.”
In other Golden Globe news, the censors were no doubt poised to bleep any banned words utteredby cheeky host Ricky Gervai s. They were probably surprised, however, to find that iconic actress Meryl Streep needed the most censoring of the night. while accepting the award forbest dramatic actress, for The Iron Lady, Streep realized upon ascending the stage that she had forgotten her readingglasses. “Oh, s—, my glasses — I forgot my glasses,” she said, prompting a several-seconds-longsilence in the broadcast as her lips continued to move. Apparently, Streep later repeated thevulgarity.

AT&T Scraps Their Bid To Acquire T-Mobile
AT&T has agreed with Deutsche Telekom AG to end their bid to acquire T-Mobile USA.
After a long process that started back in March of this year, AT&T has given up trying to expand their network by acquiring T-Mobile USA. this decision was highly influenced by the actions of the Federal Communications Commission and the Department of Justice. this bid would have solved lots of problems caused by the competitive nature of the wireless industry, and now the company needs to find another way to compete.
AT&T said that they will continue to be competitive in leading the mobile Internet revolution, delivering the best-in-class mobile broadband speeds. Today, AT&T is still in the lead at “connecting smartphones, tablets and emerging devices at a record pace – and we are well under way with our nationwide 4G LTE deployment” (AT&T).
In order to meet the needs of customers, they’ll need policymakers to do a couple things:
First, in the near term, they should allow the free markets to work so that additional spectrum is available to meet the immediate needs of the U.S. wireless industry, including expeditiously approving our acquisition of unused Qualcomm spectrum currently pending before the FCC. Second, policymakers should enact legislation to meet our nation’s longer-term spectrum needs.
AT&T will have to recognize a pretax accounting charge of $4 billion in the 4th quarter of 2011, but according to various news sources, this was expected. It’s sad that they have to end their bid because in the end, the customers are the ones who are hurt the most. And I’m sure that this increased competition would’ve caused other wireless providers to lower their prices. AT&T has backed out for now, but maybe they’ll try this again sometime in the future. what do you think?

GPS/SAT NAV Software for my Smartphone (Samsung i8910)?
Hi Guys,
I'm quite new to smartphones so forgive me if this is a stupid question. I have a Samsung i8910HD & my question is this:
I have built-in GPS on my phone and wondered if there any mapping software, free or otherwise (but particularly free!) that would solely use the built-in GPS for navigation – ie it does not require a network connection. I'm a PAYG customer and my network charges can soon mount up.
Presumably I'd need a mapping database stored locally on my phone?
Google maps seems to work quite nicely but it looks like it connects to the internet via my network in order to download the map.
Is this correct?
Can I download any mapping databases to work locally with my built-in GPS?
Thanks in advance.
