Wal-Mart Stereotypes African Americans
Wal-Mart is under fire this morning for their online ‘movie suggestions‘. when someone wanted to buy a dvd through the Wal-Mart website it also suggested other movies the customer might be interested in (kind of like netflix does). this technology is called ‘item-mapping’ and it apparently linked the dvd ‘Planet of the Apes’ with other films about African Americans including Martin Luther King Jr, boxer Jack Johnson, singer Tina Turner and actress Dorothy Dandridge. Apparently the system has since been shutdown.
This reminds me of the time that Ebay used similar technology with Google ads. A while ago when you googled the words ‘African Slaves’ an Ebay ad appeared saying ‘African Slaves for Sale‘. I guess technology just malfunctions sometimes.

Lindsay Lohan: ‘Kate Moss is my New BFF’
Monday February 8, 2010
LINDSAY Lohan says Kate Moss is helping her get her career back on track.
The Mean Girls actress, like the British supermodel, has had her fair share of drug-related ups and downs over the post few years — but she is now on the mend thanks to 35-year-old Kate.
“I ask her a lot of things,” says Lohan, who has also moved into fashion. “She’s gone through a lot and I really respect her for still being the person that she is.
‘She’s very confident in herself and she’s beautiful. She’s a nice person.”
Lindsay’s father, Michael Lohan, recently revealed he thinks prescription drugs have changed his famous daughter.
