Spelling Bee Birthday Party Theme

I like this idea, and I’m going to do it this year for my eight-year-old daughter. To me, a spelling bee birthday party theme is a killer idea, and one that will get the kids to learn a little while they’re having fun. I don’t know.maybe it’s too over the top, and to aggressive of an idea for a little girl’s party, but I don’t think so.

I’ll tell you how I’m going to do it: first of all, get a bunch of note cards and write age-appropriate words on them. Seal them in envelopes and hide them all over the house, especially in places you know the kids will be in.

Every time they find an envelope, you open it. you read the words to them, and whoever finds it gets to decide which word she wants to spell. If she gets it right, she gets a prize.

But what about the other words that are in the envelope? well, you hand those out to all of the other kids, and the same goes for them: if they get a word right, they also get a prize. But if they get a word WRONG, they will pay the price. they will be required to sit in a corner for the rest of the party and go hungry.

Not really. they just get another chance the next time an envelope is found. If it’s going to be an all-day party, I suggest getting your hands on a copy of Akeelah and the Bee, an excellent family film about a girl in a tough part of Los Angeles competing in the Nation Spelling Bee. have fun
