After dropping 9 percent year-over-year in June, the number of available tech jobs in New York state rebounded slightly, although still remains down compared to the same time last year.

A new report by Dice found that job openings for technology-related positions in the New York metropolitan area, which includes New York City, Long Island and New Jersey, are down 5 percent from the same time last year.

As of Aug. 1, there were 8,951 available tech-sector jobs in the New York metropolitan area, up from 8,871 just one month earlier; however, that’s still down year-over-year.

Despite the decrease, the New York metropolitan area still has the most available tech job openings in the country. Baltimore is a close second with 8,537 available tech jobs, registering a 7 percent increase from the same time last year.

Silicon Valley followed at No. 3 with 5,496 openings – an increase of 7 percent year-over-year.

New York was the only area in the top 10 to actually lose jobs over the last year.
