Bikaner/ New Delhi: Welcoming Thursday’s developments, Bhojpuri actor Ravi Kishen said now Bhojpuri may soon be appear in the Eighth list of official languages. Ravi is currently shooting for a movie in Bikaner.

Kishen was reacting to Chidambaram’s Bhojpuri stint. Home Minister Chidambaram addressed Lok Sabha in Bhojpuri on Thursday. This was appreciated by all the members and Speaker Meira Kumar as well.

The Bhojpuri superstar said, “ I have never seen Chidambaram speak in Hindi in the house and he took efforts to address the house in Bhojpuri.

Ravi further said it was shameful that Bhojpuri is yet to be recognized as an official language when it has a glorious history and a rich literature. he said Chidambaram’s attitude clearly says that the government has now understood the importance of the language.

Chidambaram played the perfect minister on Thursday when he replied in Bhojpuri to a calling attention motion for inclusion of Bhojpuri in official languages.

Chidambaram addressed Lok Sabha in Bhojpuri, the native language of Bihar and said, “Hum sabke bhawna samjhat bani (I understand the sentiments of all).” The home minister promised to expedite the process if considering reports on the language inclusion and taking a quick decision. The use of Bhojpuri sent the house in surprised elation and the members thumped desks in reaction.

Speaker Meira Kumar too appreciated Chidambaram’s effort. she said Chidambaram who never ever spoke in Hindi addressed in Bhojpuri and it was a matter of joy. she also expressed hopes that Chidambaram will soon inform that Bhojpuri has been accorded official language status.

A calling attention motion was moved in the Lok Sabha for Bhojpuri to be included in the Eighth Schedule of the Indian Constitution to accord it the official language status.
