Lora Odessa Erbes, 81, Sublette, Ill., died Saturday, June 26, 2010, at her home.

She was born January 23, 1929, in Racine, Ohio, the daughter of the late John and Eula (Rousch) Wolfe.

Lora was a registered nurse at Dixon Developmental Center and Dixon Correctional Center, before her retirement in 1989. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband, and was an avid and knowledge seeker. She married Edward Erbes on August 6, 1994 at first United Methodist Church in Dixon.

She was a graduate of the Class of 1947 from Racine High School in Ohio, and she also was a member of the first graduating class of Sauk Valley Community College School of Nursing, Registered Nurses Program.

She additionally was a member of the first United Methodist Church in Dixon, and a member and past president of the Local Nurses Association. Lora belonged to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, and formed the first chapter in Dixon.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, John B. Swarts and George T. Swarts; and two sisters, Mary Ord and Addie Norris.

She is survived by her husband, Edward of Sublette, Ill.; one daughter, Anne (Bill) Griffiths of St. Charles, Ill.; one son, Glen Michael Swarts of Dixon, Ill.; five grandchildren, Katie (Jesse) Goldman, William (Jenny Dean) Griffiths IV, Jamie (Richard) Pacetes, Ashley Swarts and Sarah Swarts; three great grandchildren, Siven, Adelane and Benjamin; step-grandchildren, Doreen (Bob) Boyle and Dean (Tammy) Erbes, both of Amboy, Ill. and Douglas (Lori) Erbes, David Erbes and Donald (Laura) Erbes, all of Sublette, Ill.; seven step-grandchildren; four step-great grandchildren; four brothers, Tom (Joan) Wolfe, Aaron Wolfe, Victor (Alice) Wolfe and Austin Wolfe, all of Racine, Ohio; and one sister, Nora (Jim) Lewis of Point Pleasant.

A memorial service was held at a later date at the first United Methodist Church in Dixon. Cremation rites were accorded and arrangements were completed by Mihm-Jones Funeral Home in Amboy, Ill.

A memorial has been established to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
