Phillies win the World Series! First time in 28 years!

28 years since last winning the title against the Kansas City Royals in 1980, Philadelphia Phillies win the Word Series against the Tampa Bay Rays in 5 games taking the series 4-1. Brad Lidge with an outstanding record during the regular and post seasons makes the save in the 9th inning as Tampa put the pressure on with a single and stolen base to try and tie the game.

The series was continued from Monday night’s rainout and suspended game. The game began with a 2-2 tie as the Rays tied the 6th inning just prior to the suspended game call from officials. Phillies battled it out to start the bottom of the 6th tonight scoring a run to make it a 4-3 ballgame. Tampa answered with a homer in the 7th to tie the game once again. After that it was all over, Phillies scored another run and the only run needed to clinch the series.
