TWO women staff were threatened by a knife wielding hooded robber in separate raids on Gateshead news agents.

In both incidents the female workers were threatened with a blade as the thug escaped with items or cash.

Police have now launched a investigation and believe the robber could be the same man.

On both occasions the thief was hooded and hid behind a scarf.

“A short time later at 17.10 police received a further report of a similarly disguised male having entered Pelaw News, Pelaw.

“here this male threatened a female member of staff with a knife and stole a small quantity of cash.”
