iPhone OS 4 vs Android Froyo : War of best Smartphone OS | Android

Google Android is on a roller coaster ride, after securing second rank among all smartphone OS handsets sold in the U.S. in the first quarter of 2010, Google revealed upcoming Android update Froyo 2.2 at Google I/O. Some more interesting stats from Google “Every day, our partners sell more than 100,000 new Android-based handsets, and there are now more than 180,000 active Android developers who have contributed more than 50,000 apps now available in Android Market—up 12,000 since last month alone!”

Apple is also ready with their upcoming update OS 4, with tons of new and missing features (Except Flash). Apple previewed iPhone OS 4.0 on April 8, 2010. It will be available to the public on June 7 during the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference for iPhone 3GS and iPod Touch (3rd Generation), and fall for iPad.

  • Support for installing applications to the expandable memory
  • Integrated Adobe Flash 10.1 support
  • Application speed improvements courtesy of the JIT implementation
  • Improved application launcher with “quick links” to phone and browser
  • USB tethering and WiFi hotspot functionality
  • Support for file upload field in the Browser application
  • Updated Market application with “batch” and automatic update features
  • Increased Microsoft Exchange support (security policies, auto-discovery, GAL look-up)
  • Integration of Chrome’s V8 JavaScript engine into the Browser application
  • Enhanced quick Search widget

Features of iPhone OS 4

  • Game Center, a multiplayer network like PSN or Xbox Live
  • Improved mail.app with unified inboxes, multiple Exchange accounts
  • Multitasking, limited to audio streaming, VoIP and GPS apps, as well as a few other allowances
  • Folders, ability to organize apps into folders
  • Portrait orientation lock and iPod control by sliding left on the multitasking screen
  • Notes syncing with MobileMe, Gmail IMAP and Yahoo! Mail
  • Camera support of 5x digital zoom
  • Bluetooth keyboard support
  • iBooks, an eBook reader app with support of Apple Book Store
