Most apples are easy to grow, I prefer Braeburn, Fuji and Pacific Rose(Late maturity)
All our apple trees are self pollinating, so you dont need a separate pollinator tree

I'd go for a crab apple. you will never be able to pick many if you plant any other kind. there will be thoughtless people who will see them and say, " Ooh! Free apples!".

Crab apple trees. Dont know if thats an actual scientific name, but there has always been one next to my house, no matter what the weather has been like. they are small, sour, and green. Like a granny smith.
