Concert watch: Adam Carolla show coming to Fresno

Jake Shimabukuro: Young ukulele virtuoso Shimabukuro, best known for his cover of “My Guitar Gently Weeps,” is back in Visalia, where he’s played before. He’s taking to the stage of the College of the Sequoias Theater on Nov. 30. Tickets are $20 and on sale via and at Link’s Men’s Wear, Velouria Records and White’s Music.

African Children’s Choir: after a successful appearance at the Visalia Fox Theatre in January 2010, this veteran choir returns to the Fox on Feb. 8. Tickets cost $25, or $15 for students and children younger than 12. Details: (559) 625-1369.

William Fitzsimmons: Celebrated folk singer returns to Fresno for an all-ages show March 12 at Neighborhood Cafe, 353 E. Olive Ave. he played a date at Frank’s Place in 2010. Tickets are on sale now via Ticketfly for $15.

New Year’s for the kids

Blackbeard’s and DJ D-Soto have organized a new Year’s Eve lock-in party aimed at area teenagers.

This year’s event features some young hip-hop talent, both locally and regionally.

Audio Push, an Inland Empire-bred group, headlines the night. Locals Brian Cade, Nova and SlipBoiz round out the bill.

Tickets cost $20 in advance, $25 at the door. Ticket prices include use of all Blackbeard’s attractions and video games.

Hometown Hype

Another big event highlighting the young hip-hop scene in the Valley is the Nov. 26 Hometown Hype concert at Crest Theatre.

It’s headlined by B. Wash, who will celebrate the release of his debut album, “Thoughtful Therapy.” also appearing: California Galaxy and Omar Aura, Ray Yung, Brianamus Prime, B-Dot, and L!Z and the Kid Ryan. the event is hosted and DJ’d by DJ Kay Rich.
