Recipe Tuesday: Broccoli Soup NSFW

Usually I try to come up with something clever to go into the introduction. Today I will not. So. There.
Broccoli Soup

#1
2 TBS Soy Butter

#2
1 Onion (finely chopped)
1 Stalk of celery (finely diced)
1 medium carrot (finely diced)

8 Cups fresh or frozen broccoli florets
3 Cups Vegetable Broth

#4
3 TBS Butter
3 TBS Flour
2 Cups Regular Soymilk
2 TBS of Nutritional Yeast

Salt & Pepper to Taste

Melt #1 over medium heat. Sautee #2 until fragrant and tender (5 minutes). Add #3, bring to a boil and lower to a simmer 15 minutes. Meanwhile combine #4 in a small saucepan over low heat – mix well. Purree Broccoli Mixture in batches (or use immersion blender) and return to original pan. Add your #4 mixture; mix well. Salt and Pepper to taste.

Oh. Yeah. I served it with these crackers.

Noel Gallagher quits Oasis after Paris 'altercation'

Noel Gallagher quit Oasis tonight (August 28).

Following the Manchester band’s cancelled show at the Paris Rock en Seine festival this evening, he posted the following statement on Oasisinet.com.

“It’s with some sadness and great relief to tell you that I quit Oasis tonight,” he wrote. “People will write and say what they like, but I simply could not go on working with [singer, his brother] Liam a day longer.”

The band pulled out of the Paris show just before they were due onstage, with organisers allegedly displaying a message explaining an “altercation” had caused the cancellation.

July 22, 2010 Restaurant Week 2010 extends to Labor Day weekend

Most of the restaurants taking part in NYC Restaurant Week Summer 2010 will extend the deals through Labor Day weekend, NYC & Company, the city’s tourism and marketing group, said today.

The regular restaurant week — in which 200-plus locations are offering three-course lunches for $24.07 or dinners for $35 — will end this Sunday. more than 170 dining establishments will extend the offer through Sept. 6, excluding weekends at some locations.

The fixed meal price does not include drinks, tax or tip.

Restaurants taking part in the extension include the Breslin Bar & Dining Room, db Bistro Moderne, Le Colonial, Olives at the W hotel on Union Square, Tanuki Tavern and Zengo. The full list of participants in the Restaurant Week extension will be posted Monday, according to NYC & Co.
